This video mapping project analyzes how suitable Brooklyn's Flatbush Avenue between Tillary and Fulton streets is for an ideal college neighborhood. It uses a checklist of important qualities prospective students look for in their future neighborhoods to communicate the vibe of this neighborhood. Essentially, it distills the prospective college experience into the neighborhood's spatial character by measuring the prevalence of quintessential contributors to this experience.
It is tailored to prospective college students through a fun graphic sensibility, lighthearted questions and a peppy musical score. Data used includes field work and information from various city and national agencies.
A static map summarizes the availability of different amenities and businesses in the area in relation to the proximity to the different colleges around.
